Jurisdictions

Five countries of operation and six languages mean more than a translated interface. Data residency, currencies, calendars, identifiers and the set of reports all differ.

Data residency

The region is an attribute of the organization, set when it is created in A3.ID and not changeable afterwards without an explicit migration procedure. The organization’s data does not leave its environment, and backups are kept in the same region.

This information is a guideline for design, not a legal opinion. Each point is confirmed by lawyers in the relevant jurisdiction, and requirements in this area change often.

How A3.Solutions stores data by country

What differs by country

  • Currencies and amounts

Tenge, ruble, som, sum, tugrik, and also the dollar and euro for international contracts. Amounts are stored in the transaction currency without conversion to a single one. Field precision is designed for amounts in sums and tugriks, which are several orders of magnitude larger than ruble amounts.

  • Rates and revaluation

The rate is taken on the transaction date, the source is configurable, and the history is kept. Exchange differences for the statutory layer come from the accounting system, while for the management layer they are calculated here at the same rate.

  • Calendars and time zones

A working-day calendar is kept separately for each country: holidays almost never coincide. A time zone is an attribute of the user and the legal entity, not of the country: Russia has eleven of them.

  • Identifiers

IIN and BIN, INN, SNILS and OGRN, PIN, PINFL, registration numbers. An identifier is stored as a typed set of country, type and value, not as a fixed-format field.

Languages and scripts

The interface language is a user setting, independent of the organization’s country. A Russian-speaking user in Mongolia is a common case.

Strings are compared and sorted by locale, not byte by byte. Mongolian Cyrillic has its own sorting rules, and the Russian locale gives the wrong order for it.

  • РусскийAll five countries, the language of interethnic communication
  • EnglishInterface and international counterparties
  • ҚазақшаKazakhstan, both Cyrillic and Latin script are used
  • КыргызчаKyrgyzstan, Cyrillic
  • OʻzbekchaUzbekistan, Latin and Cyrillic at the same time
  • МонголMongolia, Cyrillic with the letters ө and ү
